Easter Cakes

Happy Easter everyone, I hope your all indulging in chocolate :)

Yesterday I made some yummy Easter cakes and thought I would share the recipe on here. They are super simple to make so if you wanted something easy to bake this afternoon this might be just the thing for you.

Ingredients

4oz of caster sugar
4oz of butter (I use stork)
6oz of self raising flour
2 free range eggs
vanilla essence

For the decoration

4oz of butter
6oz of icing sugar
2oz of cocoa powder (not sweetened cocoa)
Mini eggs or other chocolates

To make the cakes.....
  • Set the oven to 180 degrees celcius
  • Whisk the sugar and butter together until the mixture is a pale colour and creamy consistency.
  • Add in the eggs and whisk
  • Add in a couple of drops of vanilla essence
  • Add in the flour and whisk
  • Bake for 10-25 minutes or until golden brown. Just keep checking on them to see when they are done.
For the buttercream

  • Using a spoon cream together the icing sugar, cocoa powder and butter until a dark colour and a consistency that is loose enough to pipe. It may take about 20 minutes but think of the exercise :)
  • Pipe the buttercream onto the cakes when cool and decorate with mini eggs or other chocolates! I also used creme egg splats on some cakes!
I hope you are all having a lovely day! Please let me know if you enjoy baking posts.

Lush Henata

One of Lush's Easter releases is the Henata. I am never desperate to buy any of these limited edition products but when I was in Lush a few weeks ago I couldn't resist buying this cute thing. It has a citrus scent with a hint of washing powder which makes it really overpowering! I love the name though and the take on the pinata party game :)

As this costs over £4 I did not want to just use it for one bath like the people in the shop suggested. If you do want to use this for several baths I recommend getting a rolling pin and hitting it with that as this is really hard to break.

I broke mine into about 10 pieces which may seem like too many but the water still went orange and the citrus scent was still there (the washing powder scent goes when it is in the water).

There are also a few surprises inside (as the name would suggest) which consist of little blue and yellow eggs, glittery pieces of lavender and apparently paper flowers which I haven't come across yet.

This is a really nice product although if it was available all the time I would not repurchase. It left my skin feeling quite dry and I much prefer the bubble bars which are the same price :)

Have you tried any of the Lush Easter collection?

Alternative ways to follow Megan's Beauty Blog

As I'm sure most of you will already know it looks like GFC will be dissspearing on July 1st this year. I know that most of my readers follow my blog via GFC but soon this won't be an option. There is no need to worry though because there are alternative ways to keep up to date with my blog.

Bloglovin
I think bloglovin is the easiest way to follow blogs and has a great interface. It keeps track of which posts you've read and which you haven't. It makes life a whole lot easier than reading blogs on google as half the time all the posts don't show up any way. You can follow my blog on bloglovin here.

Twitter
Twitter is a great way to keep up to date with what people are doing and just to have a nosey into people's lives. You can follow me on Twitter here.

There are other ways to follow my blog too such as she said beauty and hello cotton but I don't think many people use those sites and Bloglovin is much easier to use.

Please leave your Bloglovin links below and I will check them out.
