The Reading Habits TAG

Today I thought I would do the reading habits TAG which I saw Hayley from Water painted Dreams do. I love to read and am going to start doing book reviews on here so I thought this TAG would ease me into the world of book blogging! I have so many books it's actually ridiculous, I had to buy a new bookcase to house my ever growing collection.

1. Do you have a certain place for reading at home?
I always read in my bed.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Bookmarks definitely! I have so many bookmarks and like to put them to good use.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or certain number of pages?
If I have a choice I will read to the end of a chapter otherwise I feel a bit lost when I pick the book up again and have to re-read the last page just to check I remember what happened.

4. Do you eat or drink when reading?
No, I literally sit still in silence doing nothing but reading.

5. Do you watch TV or listen to music whilst reading?
No I don't but if I'm reading on the sofa and someone else is watching TV I don't mind that.

6. One book at a time or several at once?
I'm definitely a on book at a time kinda girl. The only time I will read more than one is if one is for school or if I'm really not getting into a book.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?
I prefer reading at home, and that's where I normally do it, but I can read in other places too.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Silently! I hate reading aloud and feel like what I'm reading isn't processing if I read aloud.

9. Do you read ahead or skip pages?
I never read the end like some people do as I don't want to ruin the ending. I sometimes do skip pages if something is being dragged out for too long.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
Definitely keeping it new. I know sometimes it's not possible but I hate broken spines. I'm the annoying person who tells people to try not to break the spine when I lend books to them!

11. Do you write in books?
No! When I had to write annotations in books for English I hated it, it felt like I was damaging the book and it made it look so un-neat. If I like a particular quote or have picked something out that is relevant to any of my subjects I will use post it arrows to keep track of where they are.

12. What are you currently reading?
I'm reading Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan which is the first book in the Skychasers trilogy. I'm almost finished it and think I will definitely be finished when this post goes live. Look out for a review in the next couple of weeks.

I tag anyone who reads this!

To Fake Or Not To Fake

I've never wanted to try fake nails! In my head they looked tacky and would probably fall off throughout the first day of wearing them. However recently when I asked some of my friends if they'd had gel nails done at a salon and they replied telling me that they were fake nails from none-other than Primark, I couldn't believe it! I had to be a sheep and try them for myself. I picked up 2 packs, one pack ombre blue with glitter over the darkest part and the other an aztec sort of print that are a bit more out there and that I am yet to try.

As a newby to false nails I thought the application would be really difficult but in fact the thing I found most difficult was (as those of you who follow me on Twitter may know) trying to get the glue out of the tube! FYI, you have to cut the top off!

I started off by finding the right size nail for my nails and laying them out so that I could apply them all in one go. The pack comes with 24 nails so there should be nails to fit every nail size in there. I used the glue that came in the pack and it is seriously strong stuff, it had set within half a second, no joke! The nails aren't exceptionally long so don't feel unnatural on the nails and don't disrupt daily activities like I thought they might have.

The day after I applied them I did hit my hand on the table at school really hard by accident and the thumb nail pinged off across the room *awkward*! Luckily I had anticipated this and has the glue in my bag. Definitely take the glue with you when you go out!

(Please excuse the middle nail, its not as close to the cuticle as it should be)

For only £1 these are such a bargain. They are quick to apply and last for ages. The only downside is the limited number of nice designs. They do a beautiful plain lilac pack as well as french tips but there are some utterly revolting ones too! For £1 it would be rude not to give them a go!

I'd love to know what you think of these or any fake nails.

Makeup Revolution 32 Ultra Eyeshadow Palette in Eyes Like Angels

If you saw my post earlier this week, you'll know I love the Makeup Revolution 32 eyeshadow palette in Flawless. However when I opened the palette in Eyes Like Angels I thought I would hate it. Like normal I saw the bright colours and thought no way! What I initially failed to see was the many neutral colours among this palette.

One thing I love about this palette is that the pigmentation of the brighter colours isn't the greatest which makes them much more wearable and less scary. Other than the bright orange (Orange!) and the bright pink (Pink!) there isn't a shade that I wouldn't wear.

The majority of the eyeshadows are buttery soft, a couple are really chalky though. Like in the Flawless palette, there are quite a few unique shades among the 32 in the palette. The darker shades would create the perfect smoky eye which I have tried a few times and it looks great! The champagne shades are also really beautiful but I think Moss is my favourite shade even though it's a bit outside my comfort zone!

L-R Top Row: Peacock Dream, Award, Green Stars, Silver Dream
Bottom Row: Pink Glow, Lilac Frost, Choc!, Truffle

L-R Top Row: Dream, Pink!, Molten Chocolate, Aqua Dream
Bottom Row: Sophisticated Pink, Cream, Moss, Orange!

L-R Top Row: Orchid, Purpled!, Pink Frosted, White Light
Bottom Row: Peach Cream, Lilac Shimmer, Blue Sheen, Bold Purple
L-R Top Row: Green Dream, Emerald Night, Night Stars, Copper Dream
Bottom Row: Black Stars, Silver Star, Pearl Necklace, Green Envy

Although there are a few brighter shades in this palette, I think everyone could add this to their collection. For only £8, each eyeshadow works out to be 25p which is crazy!

Have you tried any Makeup Revolution Products?

What I'm Doing #1

Instead of telling you the same boring news every week like I began to do at the beginning of the year I have decided I will write these sorts of posts when I have some exciting things going on in my life instead of just going to sixth form and all of the things that come with that. This may end up being a boring post but my blog is also a diary for me to look back on.

First things first next week I will be away with no internet access. I'm going on a summer school to a university to sample the university experience before I have to apply. I'm doing a sociology and ethics course which I am quite looking forward to as I am seriously considering doing sociology at university. My friend went on her summer school last week and although what she has told me has made me more apprehensive about the whole thing, I'm sort of looking forward to it. I'm hoping that once I'm there I will be fine. This may also sound really silly but I've never actually been away alone for more than a day or 2 so I have a feeling I will be missing my family (along with the internet) after a whole week. I will definitely let you know about the experience when I am back if anyone is interested?

I also just had my hair cut and I don't really know what I think of it. I've never had my hair shaped or dyed or anything so its a bit boring and I really want to go for a consultation and cut at a really good salon at some point this year. Anyway I had about 4 or 5 inches cut off because I thought it would make my hair look a hell of a lot better but it doesn't look great :( It is still long really but to me it feels short!

Tomorrow I'm going for a meal at Wagamamas with some a couple of friends. I haven't been before and have seen the menu and literally have no idea what to have. If you've been please let me know what is nice!

I think that's everything I have to update you on for now!

Let me know if your doing anything exciting over the next few weeks!

Makeup Revolution 32 Ultra Eyeshadow Palette in Flawless

If you haven't already heard about Makeup Revolution (let's face it, you probably have!) they are the latest budget beauty brand and they really are causing a storm in the beauty world with some products rivalling high end counterparts for a fraction of the price. I was kindly sent some products from them so watch out over the next week for my other reviews.

The palette comes in a rose gold box which is sort of mirrored but looks very cheap and gets so mucky with fingerprints. The palette itself is a sleek black and really sturdy and inside it houses a large mirror.

As you probably know, I only tend to wear natural shades of eyeshadow so the Flawless palette is perfect for me. The palette has satin, matte and a few shimmery eyeshadows in it, and while the formula of the satin shades is perfect, the matte and shimmery shades are extremely chalky. All of the shades have names, which I love but it also makes the palette so much easier to talk about!

L-R Top row: Silver Smoke, Blue Stars, Black Tie, Night
Bottom Row: Brew, Cheerless, Tarnish, Cafe Noir

L-R Top Row: Unlimited, Gold Digger, Darkest Shimmer, Green Stars
Bottom Row: Angel, Golden Night, Medal, Burgundy Night

L-R Top Row: Highlight, Lowlight, Copper Shimmer, Molten Chocolate
Bottom Row: Buff, Barely Pink, Universal, Red Night

Top to bottom. Left: Raw, Shimmer Heat, Uncover, Soft Glow
Right: Pure Chocolate, Smudge, Almost There, Paper

Paper is probably the most disappointing shadow as it doesn't even show when applied to the eyes. I love Silver Smoke, it doesn't look anything special in the pan but is translates as a beautiful gun metal shade. I also love all of the pinky toned shades and basically all of the eyeshadows. There are some very unique colours in this palette including Molten Chocolate which is brown with red shimmer in it. They last well throughout the day with a primer underneath them. At only £8 this is definitely worth picking up and I would definitely recommend it and as long as you don't have high expectations for the matte shades I think it makes a great palette. At the moment Makeup Revolution are an online store only but they are going to be in Superdrug stores fairly soon!

Have you tried anything from Makeup Revolution?

Things I'm Loving: Casual Tees, Industrial Boots & Handbags

I love basic t-shirts and the Paradise Tee and the Conversational Cat Tee are perfect casual t-shirts. I will definitely be picking these tops up as they will be perfect with a pair of jeans for sixth form. These are both from Topshop who I feel like are really at the top of their game this season.

I'm in love with the Eyelash Tee which is also from Topshop. I feel like this could be worn for both casual and formal occasions and as I have a few events coming up I will be having a look for this next time I'm in store. Another plus point is that it's only £16 which I think is great for such a detailed top.

I also really like the Chiffon Sleeve Shirt which is a perfect effortless formal top. I love the fact the buttons are concealed which makes the shirt more feminine especially as the top is one colour. At £32 I do think that it's a bit expensive however it's such a timeless piece and a great wardrobe staple.

How cute are these scallop shorts? They're pale blue and scalloped, these need no explanation! I feel these would be perfect for summer with basically any top. They could easily be dressed up with a black blazer for an evening meal or could be dressed down with a pair of converse and a cami during the day.

Dr Martens are shoes that I am seeing everywhere at the moment. Although I obviously love the look of the floral Dr Martens, you can't beat a pair of the industrial boots! Although they aren't the most appropriate shoes for the summer, the weather during summer in the UK isn't the best so these would be great on a colder day with a pair of jeans and a cardigan or even on a warmer days with a white tee. They are really heavy duty as well so you can guarantee they will last you for years.

This Dusty Pink Satchel from Dorothy Perkins is something I have been looking at for a while. I need a new bag for sixth form and have been thinking about getting this one but I'm not sure if it will fit all my work in it. I love the colour of it so much though so will have to pop in store to have a look how big it is. They also have other handbags I'm considering - which do you like?

I'd love to know what clothing items you are loving at the moment.
